Development of the 2011 National Infrastructure Plan

The Government will release the second version of the National Infrastructure Plan in June 2011.

The second Plan presents a vision for infrastructure and infrastructure sectors. It describes the Government’s guiding principles for infrastructure development, focussing on better use of existing infrastructure assets and better use of new capital investment. The second part of the Plan discusses these principles as they apply to water, telecommunications, transport, energy, social infrastructure and in particular regions.

Regional Workshops

As part of work towards the National Infrastructure Plan the National Infrastructure Unit held five workshops across New Zealand. The workshops sought input on infrastructure challenges and opportunities from the perspective of people and organisations with responsibility for substantial infrastructure assets. Brief notes from these workshops are available in the table below.
